Theres tons of really great tutorials by Dan Shiffman on his “Coding Train” YouTube channel. p5.js is the Javascript version of the Processing language- it’s from the same Processing Foundation and shares a lot of the same terminology and structure. If you want your work to be running live in a web browser, it’s hard to beat p5.js if you are a beginner. What form do you want your work to take? Where will it live? That being said, if you’re still at a loss where to start, a way to consider it is what you want your final output to be. You’ll be bringing knowledge and experience to a new area. So it’s ok to switch if you aren’t feeling it anymore, and when you try something new you won’t be going in “square one”. Not to add more to your list, but cables.gl is a cool thing to try out, it kind of feels like a cross between Max and TD, but all in-browser. There are also a ton of great tutorials for TD on YouTube (I’m watching Elekktronaut’s TD beginner series at the moment), and Andrew Robinson’s Jitter tutorials are awesome if you want to dive deeper into that. I don’t think you can go wrong with any option you listed. If I can offer a suggestion: just try what appeals to you the most, and give it a bit of time to get a feel for what kind of workflow appeals to you more. The options are pretty overwhelming, right? I’m in the same boat: I’m just dipping my toes into this stuff and there’re so many potential avenues to take! I’ve seen so much done with just max/jitter (I really enjoy Tom Hall’s work) that I wonder what are the advantages/differences compared to all these other options? Nodebox (python), Hydra, Kubus (li fo 2d), Pixivisor was mentioned once early in the thread… so many options - I think my biggest question is: Touchdesigner - seems very deep/flexible mentioned by makes it sound like it’s maybe a better idea to skip processing and jump straight into this. P5.js - not sure what this is but was mentioned several times here Processing - seems like a good starting point for one who is a beginner but wants to learn a language In general I think I am a little overwhelmed by all the options: Would you still suggest it now or maybe something as an alternative? The other work you’re doing sounds really cool too I’ve recently started experimenting with max/jitter, just basic Lcd with feedback and rotation, but I know there is so much more (suggestions really like the love2d gifs you posted, you mentioned it was years ago that you got into it.
